Urgent Bug - Project incorrectly switched from Tier 2 to Tier 1

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here to check if others are experiencing the same issue and to get clarity from the Google AI team.

In my case, my project was previously correctly shown as Tier 2 in the AI Studio dashboard. Recently, I noticed that it has silently changed to Tier 1.

Important details:

  • I did not make any changes to the project, billing, or API setup

  • I did not receive any email or notification about a tier change

  • As far as I know, my billing status / usage conditions did not change

I found multiple similar reports describing the same behavior, where projects that were previously Tier 2 appear to revert to Tier 1 without explanation.

Examples:

This is already impacting production usage and creating uncertainty for developers relying on stable quota behavior.

Could someone from the Google AI / Gemini team please confirm whether this is a known issue.
Any clarification would be appreciated, as this is affecting real workloads and production systems.

Same issue here. Before the long weekend, our account was in Tier 2, and now it’s in Tier 1.

We are encountering the exact same problem! We are tier 3, and now the API’s are tier 1, whilst our billing is still 3! All our products that our clients use are down as well… MAJOR impact on our business and revenue… @Mustan_lokhand PLEASE HELP! gen-lang-client-04076847..
