My account recently downgraded from Tier 2 to Tier 1 for no apparent reason. I received no notification; it was a silent error. I only realized this in production when I reached the $250 monthly limit for Tier 1 and the service was completely blocked. My application is currently down for this reason. This error on Google’s part is unacceptable.

I had the same issue, but after waiting 24 hours the problem still wasn’t fixed. So I switched to Google Vertex AI instead.
I recommend using that instead of Google AI Studio. The setup process has a few more steps, but it’s not very difficult. You can ask Claude or Gemini to help guide you through the setup.
I did that, and it solved my problem.

Same here. it randomly drops to tier 1, suspends all services. An hour later it was restored to tier 2, and now it randomly drops to tier 1 again. very frustrating for myself and all my users.
