Billing: Prepay. Auto top-up of £100 triggered and cleared today, 23 Aug 2026 (bank confirmation received). Balance is positive.
What happened: The project has been on Paid Tier 2 for weeks (in use since late July, well past the spend/age threshold). At roughly 14:25 UTC today, shortly after the top-up, the AI Studio rate-limit page switched
to Tier 1 and requests to gemini-pro-latest (Gemini 3.1 Pro) began returning 429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED. The dashboard now shows Pro at 251 / 250 RPD against the Tier 1 limit. Nothing was changed on our side — no new project, no key change, no billing account change.
Evidence attached: (1) the Gemini API Rate Limit page showing “Tier 1” with Pro at 251/250 RPD; (2) the billing page showing the cleared £100 auto top-up and positive prepay balance.
Impact: a production app (vinyl pressing identification; ~3–4 Pro requests per user scan) is effectively capped at ~60 scans/day until the tier is restored.
This looks like the same issue reported in “[Bug] Account tier keeps toggling back and forth between Paid Tier 1 and Tier 3” and “URGENT: Tier 2 dropped to Tier 1 after a few hours”. Could the DevRel team please re-sync this project to Tier 2? Happy to provide anything else needed
