Is there rate limiting? Stitch stopped working on one email, had to open incognito with a different email to make it work

Hi there, is there rate limiting?

Stitch stopped working on one email, it doesn’t run the prompt if I edit an existing image that Stitch generated

And it won’t generate a new design if I make a new prompt

But if Iopen an incognito browser and use Stitch with a different email address it works

Damn, I think I got rate limited again on the second account (different email in an Incognito browser).

Google’s team can email me if needed and I can give them the email addresses of both accounts if they need to investigate

The same thing now happened to me on a third account (incognito with a different email address). I am using Experimental Mode.

Problem Description

  • The existing prompt is not reacting to anything I type, and if I try to create a new Prompt (Project) it just does nothing. It says ‘New Design’ and when you click into it, it is blank and a toast message appears saying 'Cannot find project)

From some testing, if I make a new Standard project, it work,s but if I try to prompt within an existing Experimental Mode design or if I try to make a new Experimental Mode promt it does not work.

My theory is that either there is:

  • A token rate limit, that once it’s hit, the user gets blocked
  • An AI context window limit, i.e. the AI cannot store any more history from this user and doesn’t have any mechanism to shred old history, so it gets blocked

Fyi @Vincent_Nallatamby

I have also had this happen last week. First and only time I ever tried to give it a Claude 4 generated ui/ux explanatory prompt, with style examples, and a long set of instructions, just to see if it’d do it. It did it but it eventually stopped remembering its own color scheme when I was adding pages, it stopped following instructions all together, other new projects started doing the same, eventually they all stopped responding to me the same way it’s happening to you.

Did you have any issues with your stitch designs prior to reaching context limit? I’m curious if it’s a feature or a bug to start failing and ultimately limit in the end.

I just went to fetch screenshots and realized it’s still not working I can’t even make a new project. I kept it simple. I can’t update the problematic project either. We may be in need of assistance here.

Hi, I don’t get notifications from this forum so I didn’t see your message, any idea how we can enable notifications for it

To answer your question, everything was working normal and as expected until I hit the ‘context limit / rate limiting’ and this was the case for all 4 accounts I got rate limited on. It just happens when you least expect it. I was generally giving it a reference image on prompt 1 with a 6 line prompt.

Then I was just focusing on 1-3 line prompts after to tweak things in the generated UI

But after doing a certain amount of these tweaks, it just stops working until you use a new email address

cc @Narasimha if you can let the Google team know that there is some sort of rate limiting which prevents people from being able to use Google Stitch

Hi folks - there is indeed rate limiting for Experimental Mode.

Can you fill this form?

I will see what I can do to expand the rate limit.

I have the same problem. In Experimental mode, I can view existing projects, but I can’t edit them or create new prompts. I also can’t create new Experimental mode projects. However, Standard mode is currently working fine.

I tried this but the form won’t open for me. Any ideas, I was making a lovely design but it won’t let me edit anymore in experimental mode…

Can I pay to increase the number of generations I can create in experimental mode?

Any luck on expanding the rate limit for experimental mode?

Just now experiencing the same problem. This is what I found.

Hi @Heathen thanks for raising the concern, I understand that you’re facing the limited generation issue with stitch, right now we do not have such option to pay and increase the generations but I have raised this concern to our internal team.

Why don’t they just raise the throttle / rate limit. First this was happening to me, but as we can see its happening to many more now. It makes no sense, you can just have 7 email addresses and then keep using each one until you reach your rate limit.

Also, by raising the throttle limit, it will mean people will use Google Stitch more opposed to the competitors.

All Google need to do is ensure there are no bots using Stitch, as any human who is using it will be using it for legitimate purposes (as its UX design , not something a human can abuse)

Hi @Qaunain_Meghjee Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on the throttle/rate limit for Stitch.
We understand your concerns and want to assure you that we are constantly evaluating our rate limits to balance user needs and actively working on improving the user experience and your input is valuable in that process.

I just filled out the form as well. I’m running into the same issue. Thank you!
