Oh😬then will wait for official announcement then
Yes I’m waiting for the official resultz until then I won’t belive any rumors
Developers and few Super Humans know very well that 2024 Google Gemini API Competition, brought out GG. Great Goodies, with insightful experiences.
Hi Lloyd! How are you?
I realized that what I’ve been dreading ever since I signed up for the Gemini API Competition has happened: some problem has prevented my app from working perfectly.
I’m sending you this message, because I sent an email to Meg who tried to test my app, talking about the problem I faced on my ubuntu server. It restarted itself and my app’s API didn’t work again.
I was monitoring the server weekly to make sure everything was working, but my last test was 2 days before the day Meg tested.
I would like to ask you to please review my app again, it deserves it for all the effort I put into it, for all the expectations that I, my friends and family put into this project. All I ask is that you test it again.
My project name is Storyland
@Lloyd_Hightower have never answered an email from me at least, you might have better luck. I haven’t seen any of the organizers here that often to be honest
How did you know that they tested your app? My app is connected with Firebase and is not tested. I developed a complete app just because of their rules.
It’s better just to wait at this point, any sort of speculation will be useless and counter productive. we’ll find out. although I doubt it I’ll be in mid-November.
Yeah just few days to go
Why? Do you think it’s going to be even later?
I know it’s been tested because a new user tested my app, only I and the jury have access to my app. I looked up the person who tested it, and she’s a Google engineer.
It took them the entirety of October to filter based on Technology, which is basically filtering based on the “wow” factor.
Filtering by usefulness/impact and so forth will depend on so many other variables, I highly doubt it’ll be just a couple of weeks.
You have some fair points. In general I wish there was a little more periodic communication. Let’s say every week such as “now we are at 87% progress of evaluation vs last week of 76%” or similar. But I can imagine they may not have that crisp, simple progress number to communicate.
“Doing things well has nothing to do with priorities”. I’m not sure. The reason people are so anxious is that it took a long time now the judgement process. If this hackathon was a 1st priority for Alphabet then there could be more judges and the process would be faster. The question is if way prolonged judgement mean they are not doing the judging well?
I cannot say anything about judging. It depends on a lot of factors. It depends on the team that is doing it. Every team member has a different mind. Somebody will favor some and somebody will favor some. This is the reason they have strict rules but still, they need to depend on the input of judges. One of the criteria for points is Execution. Now, those points will only be given when you run the app, and test the code. I installed an e-learning app that I was thinking very good and it hangs. It was also incomplete. How can you filter apps based on videos and then only test them? At least, I want my app to be tested. I had two ideas in my mind and I chose this just to follow their rules. I am waiting for the results. Let’s see.
Let’s wait and watch
Any new updates? We are technically in mid November, and I hope they can add a date for the official announcement if they are in final state
@Lloyd_Hightower yes we are curious about the results please let us know the date

It was never mentioned that there’d be such a certificate.
