Gemini API Competition - Update and Thank You!

Hi everyone,

On behalf of the entire Gemini API team, I want to express our sincere gratitude to all the developers who submitted their projects to the competition. This process has been longer than expected and I appreciate you all for your patience.

People’s Choice Award:

We tallied the votes and contacted the winner of the People’s Choice Award. This award will be announced alongside the other winners soon.

Technology Awards:

We have finalized the winners for the technology categories. Our product teams were hard at work evaluating submissions and we are reaching out to potential winners this week. Some have already been contacted.

Important Note: If you’re contacted for a technology award, it is just for that specific award. For example, even if you don’t win “Best Flutter App,” your project might still be recognized as “Most Impactful” or “Most Useful.” We’re considering each submission for all possible awards!

Innovation Awards:

We are beginning to finalize the winners for this category. This includes Most Impactful, Most Useful, and Most Creative. No one has been contacted yet for this set of awards. Which also means Best Overall App has not been finalized yet.

Announcement Timeline:

We’re aiming to announce winners by mid-November. We understand you’re eager to hear the results, and we truly appreciate your patience as we navigate this process.

The selection process was incredibly challenging due to the sheer number of outstanding submissions. We were truly impressed by the quality of work! While we wish we could give out more awards, we’d like to extend further opportunities to some of our top participants.

Even if you didn’t win, you may still be contacted for exciting opportunities that include a multitude of things. We’re eager to celebrate the creativity and talent demonstrated in this competition. I’ll also be sharing some of my personal favorite apps on our channels, so stay tuned!

Thank you all for participating!"

We’re in the final stretch now, and we can’t wait to celebrate the amazing achievements of our winners. Stay tuned for the official announcement!

Thank you all again,

Lloyd H.

Sorry to bombard you with this, but for situations where candidates don’t see testing traffic nor video traffic, can we safely assume that essentially our applications didn’t pass the initial filtration?

Hello! I just wanted to thank you for all the work you’ve done. Handling so many submissions was no small task, and I really appreciate the update. It makes it much easier to wait for the results with peace of mind. Thanks again!

Unfortunately I’m among the ones with very low traffic in the video. Either there were just a couple of judges or my app did not pass initial screening for some reason

Did you guys got more unique visitors during October?

Hi there, Happy to see an update! But I have one question: Are you evaluating the app directly, or just watching the submitted video? For my app, it’s only possible to access it through Firebase Auth, so I haven’t seen any new users in my console yet. The terms mentioned that marks would be awarded based on app quality, including factors like bugs and practicality.

This is my submission :

Same here unfortunately. The given credentials were never used… So the app were never tried

Apps not being used is normal, what about your unique visitors on your video?

Same here, app never tested

What should I see from the unique visitors?

My guess is that considering the size of the competition they should have a sensible amount of judges, so I expect to see a few unique visitors in my video from time to time,m

Unique visitors alone don’t provide meaningful insights. We have hundreds of views because we built the app publicly on Twitch and X, and since it’s a functioning B2B application, it’s not surprising to see occasional viewership.

I hoped they could have tried it, it’s really a revolution…

Anyway, thanks for the regular updates @Lloyd_Hightower

I can’t find anything as said on the analytics side too bro, 1 or 2 visitors from region India from Sep 1 to Oct 31.

You guys should stop worrying about views and wait two more weeks to know the results, besides they said they would announce mid November, it means that they would reach out to winners a couple of days beforehand, so less than 2 weeks.

Will they contact via email or any other point of contact?

Hey Lloyd! Thanks for the update. I made one of the very few ARCore apps (آشفتگی حمل و نقل از راه دور  |  Gemini API Developer Competition  |  Google AI for Developers) but I noticed there were almost no external users hitting my server. I put quite a lot of effort into producing a cohesive product, including FTUE, and it certainly isn’t reflected in my video, where I had to aggressively truncate and summarize the experience to fit within the video duration constraints. If possible, I would greatly appreciate judges getting the chance to try mine out!
