[BUG] Unable to Access Google AI Studio anymore. Redirects to "Available Regions" page despite being in supported region and over 18

Since around 11 AM yesterday (17 June 2025), my Google account cannot access Google AI Studio. Visiting https://aistudio.google.com/ leads to a split second of the AI Studio interface with the message “Failed to list models. Please try again later” or “Permission denied” before immediately redirecting to Available regions for Google AI Studio and Gemini API  |  Google AI for Developers.

The account is located in the United Kingdom (a supported region) and is over 18. AI Studio had previously worked everyday until yesterday. My last successful access of the website was around 2AM, 17 June 2025, after which I turned off my PC.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Signing in to my google account
  2. Visiting Google AI Studio using the aforementioned link or google search.
  3. The AI Studio Interface appears for split second with the message “Failed to list models. Please try again later”
  4. The page is then immediately redirected to the available regions page.

Attempted steps to resolve issue:

  • Ensured no connection to VPN, and ensured that my IP address is shown as UK.
  • Signing out of my account and signing back in.
  • Attempted to access AI studio in Private mode of Firefox
  • Attempted to access AI studio in a separate browser where I have never signed in to my google account in (Microsoft Edge).
  • Attempted to access AI studio from a different device (smart phone).
  • Connecting a VPN to the US and attempting to access AI Studio.

Important notes:

  • I have tried to access AI studio through another google account, and did not encounter any issues. I am led to believe the issue is specifically with my main account.
  • Both accounts are located in the UK and are over 18. Neither account has billing enabled.

Hi @Jheok_IV,

Welcome to the Forum,

Thanks for flagging this issue. We will file a bug internally. To help us prioritize, please DM your email ID?

Thank you for your reply. I was unable to find a DM option, probably because I do not have DM permissions. Could you DM me first so I can reply with my email ID? Thanks.

It’s been 2 and a half weeks now and I’m still unable to access AI Studio. Is anything even being done about my issue?

I encountered the same bug today, July 10th, 2025, in India, which I know is supported, as I have checked the page

I have encountered the same bug since yesterday, July 10th,2025, in American. I tried to signed in Microsoft Edge and use another account. It doesn’t work.

Same here.
IP address points to Miami, Florida, USA.
I have static IP addresses at my home.

Since morning, July 22, 2025, my attempt to open Google AI Studio redirects to available regions.

If I access with my account’s Google AI Studio from different IP address, like I tried to open from data center located in Tampa, Florida, the same account works fine.

Apparently, the problem is with my IP address, for some reason blacklisted by Google.
could not find support email or forum where I could report.

This link allows to whitelist your IP address:

Update:

  • 24 hrs after I submitted my IP to Google, Google still blocks Google AI Studio.
  • Google AI API works fine (API usage).

On " Blacklist Check" my IP is white on all servers.

ISP:AT&T Enterprises LLC
Country:United States
State/Region:Florida
City:Miami

Around a month ago, I reluctantly made a new account and started using it, and it worked fine. Today, the same issue started appearing on that account: redirecting to the “Available regions” page. Something needs to be done as this is a serious issue

Same here. I am in London and unable to access AI Studio. The page keeps redirecting me to the “Available Region” again and again.

I have the same issue. Works with one email address but not with the other. Exact same IP address. Nobody has a solution nor cares about this.

Hi Chrono,

I was facing the same issue; all I did was verify my age in the personal info section on my google account. It then worked for me. Hope this helps.
