Unable to access AI Studio – Redirected to Available Regions despite Hungary supported region, age verified"

Hello Google AI Team / Moderators,

I am facing a persistent issue accessing aistudio

Symptoms:

  • When I visit the link (logged in), the AI Studio interface loads for a split second.

  • Then I see an error message: “Failed to list models: permission denied” (or sometimes “Please try again later”).

  • Immediately after, I get redirected to: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/available-regions

This prevents me from using Google AI Studio or creating/using Gemini API keys in the free tier.

My details (all eligibility met):

  • Location / IP: Budapest, Hungary (explicitly supported region – see official list: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/available-regions)

  • IP check: Tested on dnsleaktest → IP: 172.68.67.45, ISP: Cloudflare, Country: Budapest, Hungary (no DNS/IP/WebRTC leak)

  • Age: Verified 18+ via myaccount google.com/age-verification (birthdate correctly set and confirmed)

  • Account settings:

    • Google Account country/region: Set to Hungary (checked in myaccount..google.com/personal-info)

    • Payments profile country: Hungary (checked in pay .google.com → Settings → Country/region)

  • Troubleshooting done:

    • Tested in Incognito mode (no extensions)

    • Cleared cache, cookies, site data for ai.google.dev, google..com, aistudio.google .com (all time)

    • Tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox)

    • Switched VPN servers to US, UK, Germany (same issue)

    • Created and tested with a brand new Google account (VPN on US) → same redirect

    • No Workspace/managed/family-linked account – personal Gmail

    • No ToS violation or suspicious activity

This issue started recently (exact date/time: [insert approximate date if you remember, e.g., early February 2026]) and previously AI Studio worked fine on this account.

I suspect a backend flag/mismatch on my account or incorrect flagging of Cloudflare-based IP ranges (common in recent reports from EU/US users). Similar bugs reported in forum threads like:

  • If needed, whitelist my account/IP or remove any incorrect eligibility restriction.
