Whenever I open AI studio I am immediately redirected to https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/available-regions. I did further research and my account is set to over the age of 18. I am not using a VPN and I am in an available region. This happened to my old account, I then used a second email account and it worked fine for a few days until the issue persisted again on a completely different account. I did not break the Gemini TOS either. This is very frustrating, anyone aware of the underlying issue?
Hey,
Hope you’re keeping well.
This redirect generally occurs when the Gemini API or AI Studio cannot confirm your account’s regional eligibility or product access status. Even if your country is listed as supported in the available regions, AI Studio verifies both your Google Account settings and Play Services country profile. If either is tied to an unsupported region or restricted organization domain, you’ll be redirected automatically. Check that your account’s primary country in payments profile and the region under Google Account > Personal Info > Country/Region match one of the supported locations.
If the region data is correct and the redirect persists across accounts, the issue is often tied to cached credentials or a session mismatch in the AI Studio domain. Clear cookies for ai.google.dev, sign in again at https://aistudio.google.com, and ensure you’re using a standard Google Account (not a managed Workspace account with restricted third-party app access). If the redirect continues after verifying these settings, the account may be temporarily flagged for API access verification, in which case contacting Google Cloud Support with your account email and region is the most direct path for resolution.
Thanks and regards,
Taz
Hi @Joncccc , Welcome to forum!!!
I’m really sorry to hear you’re facing this issue. Could you please double check if your account is managed by a school or company, or if it’s being restricted by a Family Group administrator? If everything looks fine and the issue still persists, you can report your IP-related problems using the link [Report IP problems - Google Search Help].
Thanks.
