Yesterday, i wanted to chat with a model and discovered an bug. The token counting, seems to be infinite, but 3 days ago, after last message, the chat was still available. This “restriction” applies only in this chat. I still can use other chats and other models. People in this forum say that for them one long chat is still available even when 700k tokens are reached. Please help.

This is a known problem, and I’ve been looking for a bug fix for this too.

’ve found a temporary workaround for this issue: we’ll use keyboard shortcuts to send requests
Alt+Enter
The message is sent to the chat but doesn’t trigger a response, so it needs to be run manually.
—and then click on the logo to re-run [run the prompt] the stars.

But can’t upload file to run with this method 
The file is uploaded, just write some text next, after you have sent the file, and launch the text itself using the icon.
Be careful when updating the page, as the chat is not saved. Make copies of the chat or branch, and delete the old one.

I dont know about new chats but basically all my old conversations that are +300k tokens have this problem. the workaround that white AI shared is good but the new prompts dont get saved, if you refresh the page you lose everything.
Wow, that’s a relieve! Somebody in this thread found that it is really temporary, ‘cause the prompt and response are vanishing after reloading, but this is working method for me, and i think i will use it for a while.
I’ve had very similar situation with ChatGPT, when its limits were reached, the prompt was being deleted automatically, after page reloading, but there were no visible bugs, only interface stuttering.

Yes, even i am encountering this issue
I don’t what to say, i was just chatting with him, for like 5 months. Sending messages as usual, i don’t see any patterns, to be honest. Some prompts, were 60 tokens, some were 6k.
I did some research, asking the gemini itself, and it said, that there is something “wrong” happening when filesize is reaching 4mb. So was mine, but i think it may just did a calculation to match my numbers. Anyway, might be a hypothesis.
