BUG : Stuck on Please wait for content to load

The chat in AI Studio keeps looping on loading or counting tokens… I can’t use my chats and can’t send prompts. How can it be fixed? Is it a bug?

I’ve found a temporary workaround for this issue: we’ll use keyboard shortcuts to send requests

Alt+Enter

The message is sent to the chat but doesn’t trigger a response, so it needs to be run manually.

—and then click on the logo to re-run [run the prompt] the stars.

Thanks for the response! It works! But what’s the underlying issue? Is it a known bug for bigger chats? And is Google planning to fix this soon? Because this issue causes AI studio to not save the chat after any change.

I use your method to run. But it can’t save. I can’t click the button. Do you have some way to fix it?

Copy the chat and delete the old one. It’s very tedious, but it works for now. Okay @chunduriv, please look into this and forward it to the Google dev team. It’s been 48 hours and the bug is still not fixed.

Thanks ,I will have a try.

This doesn’t work for me, unfortunately. Is there any way we could push for this to be fixed faster? None of my workflows are being saved right now.

Don’t mark your thread as resolved yet, so they can more easily find it; you might confuse the Developers. The workaround is not a permanent fix, and I need to be able to use my chats soon.

Hey All,

Sorry for the inconvenience. I was unable to reproduce the issue on my end. Are you still encountering this issue? If so, please share the specific steps to reproduce the issue so we can investigate further.

Thank you!

I’ve encountered a similar issue: historical chats with token usage exceeding 300,000 cannot continue conversations normally.

Observations:

  1. Currently using Chrome browser.

  2. The problem occurs in historical conversations with tokens > 300,000.

  3. Network requests in DevTools all return successfully (data requests complete without error).

  4. All interface scrolling and settings functions operate normally.

  5. The problematic interface primarily involves the token calculation interface element remaining in a persistent Loading state. However, hovering the mouse over this element reveals that token usage has already been calculated. The submit button appears disabled, seemingly due to the token calculation loading state.

  6. In DevTools, the Console displays numerous setTimeout-related prompts, with additional related prompts appearing as the mouse scrolls through the interface.

  7. It appears that during the calculation of historical token usage data, the Token Calculation page elements are set to loading status. However, after the large-scale token usage calculation completes, these elements fail to return to normal status and remain stuck in loading mode. This prevents users from continuing to compose and submit questions. (Personal speculation)

I hope my observations regarding this issue prove helpful in resolving it.

I have the same bug. Tokens are being counted. I can’t save my last conversation in the chat. And I work as I wrote above with the alt + enter hotkey and click on the asterisk. I use the gemini 2.5 pro model. I tried other models, the same problems. The chat starts working only when you start a new conversation.

Hello @chunduriv, the issue can be replicated when a chat has over 400k-500k tokens, and it basically fails to count or save the workflow with “heavier” token counts. Hope this helps. Also, @james has a more detailed observation in this thread.

Please help to get it fixed immediately.

Hey, here’s an example of a corrupted file. Download it and Upload it again into your Google AI Studio Drive Folder to test.

I have the exact same issue. Happened to all of my longer chats (200k+ tokens), no matter what I cant get the chats to work again, its an infinite loop on counting tokens and processing for saving. Tried branching, copying, nothing works. Been having this issue for 2 days now. Workaround from White_AI works.

I don’t know why they don’t try to resolve this issue faster… I’ve seen the exact same threads like mine pop up in the last 2 days and still … no definite fix!

Hello !

I’m experiencing the same issue. For me, it happens only where token count is > 400k. I have done a test with a prompt which I branched and what happened is that at around 375k token, the token count finished loading but on a simple subsequent refresh it wasn’t working anymore. My logical conclusion is that either the bug is intermittent or perhaps it’s like a timeout where the “count” “gives up”.

It happens in Firefox 144.0.2, Firefox Dev Edition 145.0b8, Chrome 141.0.7390.123, latest Chrome (as of 31 Oct 25) on Android, so everywhere.

The screenshot I add shows that the input/output tokens have been counted, yet this doesn’t appear in the small icon on the top. This bug appeared simultaneously with the scrolling but of the 27th or 28th of October where the discussion was jumping all over the place.

Yes, you’re right. I’ve read somewhere that some people have reported that when you scroll up to the beginning of the chat, the issue is fixed, though I’ve tried it and it didn’t work. Worth a shot, though, maybe it works for you? I don’t know.
