Sudden Region Error accessing AI Studio/Vertex AI despite being in US and over 18

Hello Google AI Support Team,

I am experiencing a persistent “region error” when attempting to access Google AI Studio (formerly MakerSuite) across all my devices (PC and iPhone), and across two different Google accounts.

Context:

  • I am physically located in the United States.

  • I am over 18 years of age.

  • The service was working perfectly 2 days ago (on Tuesday, December 2, 2025), but the error started suddenly yesterday (Wednesday, December 3, 2025) and has not resolved since.

  • My Google Account location settings are confirmed to be “United States.”

  • My public IP address correctly geolocates to the United States.

Steps I have already taken (and failed to resolve the issue):

  • Confirmed age and location settings in Google Account.

  • Used Incognito/Private mode in browsers.

  • Cleared all browser cache and cookies (“All Time”).

  • Deleted and reinstalled the Google app on my iPhone.

  • Confirmed no VPN or proxy is active.

  • Signed in with only one Google account at a time.

  • Attempted access on different browsers (Chrome, Safari).

I have gone through all standard troubleshooting steps provided online. Since the problem began spontaneously after working correctly for some time, it seems likely my account or IP address has been incorrectly flagged in your system.

Could you please investigate my account status or advise on the next steps for a manual review of my access rights?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hey,

Hope you’re keeping well.

This error can occur if your account is being routed through a region that AI Studio doesn’t currently support, even if your IP geolocation shows US. First, confirm you can access other Vertex AI resources in the same account via the Google Cloud Console to rule out a broader account restriction. If those work, the issue is likely tied to AI Studio’s region eligibility check.

I recommend checking your Google profile’s Home address in Payments & Subscriptions and ensuring it’s set to United States, as AI Studio uses this for compliance. If the address is correct and the error persists, capture a screenshot of the error and submit it directly via the Send feedback link in AI Studio, which routes to the product team for account-level review. This will allow them to verify if your account was incorrectly flagged and re-enable access.

Thanks and regards,
Taz

Hi @Kreshnik_Isaraj , Thanks for reaching out to us.

Please confirm if your account is managed (school/company) or restricted by a Family Group administrator??
