Hello Gemini API Team,
I am requesting a manual review of an unexpected Gemini API access restriction on my Free Tier project.
Project details:
Project name: Default Gemini Project
Project ID: gen-lang-client-0646515…
Intended use: Personal development and testing with the Gemini API
Desired tier: Free Tier
Google AI Studio currently shows:
- Project status: Restricted
- Billing tier: Unavailable
Gemini API content generation requests consistently return:
HTTP 403 PERMISSION_DENIED
“Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.”
I have completed the following troubleshooting steps:
- Gemini API / Generative Language API is enabled in Google Cloud Console.
- The API key is valid and associated with the correct project.
- I tested generateContent directly from PowerShell, without using my application, and received the same HTTP 403 error.
- I also tested the API through Dify and received the same PERMISSION_DENIED response.
- Google AI Studio shows Free Tier quotas for eligible Gemini Flash models.
- My Google Account phone verification is completed.
- 2-Step Verification is enabled.
- My account information and date of birth are correct.
- I have reviewed Google AI Studio and Google Cloud Console and found no additional action available other than setting up billing.
I would like to remain on the Gemini API Free Tier and do not want to enable paid billing only to remove what may be an automated restriction.
Could you please manually review the Gemini API access status for this project/account and restore Free Tier access if this restriction is a false positive?
I have intentionally not included any API keys or private credentials.
