My Gemini API project has suddenly been denied access.
Project ID: private-ai-chat-5048…
Error: “Gemini chat error: 403 Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.”
Time: August 8, 2026 at approximately 13:38 China Standard Time (05:38 UTC), as recorded in Vercel logs.
Gemini works normally through the web app using the same Google account, but API requests from my application hosted on Vercel are rejected. Please review whether this project or account was incorrectly restricted, and let me know what steps are required to restore Gemini API access.
Hello @Farrah ,
Receiving a 403 API error response indicates that your account has been flagged. To proceed:
If you’re on the free tier with no billing attached, you should consider setting up billing. In most cases this is enough to clear any flag on your account. Please note this will mean you lose your free tier quota. You should also see a banner in AI studio prompting you to set up billing.
If you are on a paid tier, check for banners / error callouts in the AI Studio Projects page & the Billing page. Mostly these flags cause visible banners or other errors on these pages with concrete next steps / appeal links. You can also check the email address associated with your project for information on next steps.
Request for manual review – 403 Project access denied
Hello,
My Gemini API project has been denied access.
Project ID:my-novera-gemini-automation
When I try to use the Gemini API from Make, I receive:
403 PERMISSION_DENIED: Your project has been denied access. Please contact support.
In Google AI Studio, the project/API key is also shown as unavailable.
I am currently using the free tier and do not want to enable paid billing. I would like to know whether this restriction can be reviewed and resolved without enabling paid billing.
This project is for a personal content-automation workflow using Make. It is used for text-based strategy analysis, concept generation, review, and script generation.
Could you please manually review this project and let me know:
Why access was denied
Whether the project can be restored
Whether restoration is possible without enabling paid billing
Ensure that the model you are requesting is available on your current plan. For example, not all models are available on the free tier. You can verify model availability, quotas, and limits on the AI Studio Rate Limit dashboard.
Once verified, retry your request or create a new API key in Google AI Studio.
Upgrade to a Paid Tier:
If verifying your account does not restore access (or if using a model requiring a paid tier), you can unlock access by adding prepayment credits directly in Google AI Studio or attaching a Google Cloud Billing account in the Google Cloud Console.
