Persistent Video Upload Failure - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

same problem here. a video analysis/indexing app I built on gemini which was perfectly working, is not working anymore. codecs, file sizes, video length, none of them change anything.

why is this not a huge issue? are the people above the only people who have this issue?

and has it really been a month since this was reported but is still unsolved?

won’t anybody reply to this???

did anybody manage to solve this issue?
file uploads properly, we get a filename too, but when analyzing -not with prompt, just google’s post-upload file analysis- we get ‘internal error’

a code that was properly working started not working without me changing anything. how a company like google is allowing this to happen???

but nothing changed yet?

i tried with many video formats, file sizes, upload directly, upload from drive… none of it works, neither in ai studio nor in api.

Hey @mengu_gulmen , Could you please provide the detailed error message?

unfortunately there is no detailed error message.

whatever video i try to upload either to ai studio, or through google genai sdk file upload, i get HTTP 500 internal error. that’s it.

i had an app that was perfectly working up to a few weeks ago. i try videos that i previously uploaded and analyzed.

the file upload concludes. in ai studio, i see “extracting” for a few seconds then fail.
in the api after upload i poll the file status, which normally was pending/processing etc then active, now the first poll returns failed, with the same error message: 500 internal error.

I try to upload a video it’s stuck at “Extracting…”. I tried switching models but that made no difference. I even uploaded it to Google Drive and gave it to the model directly from there. No difference. It’s still getting stuck at “Extracting…”. Any solutions?
The video is 1mb… at the end I’m getting Ana erro code 400 and 500 please help

WORK AROUND: I get the same error, you all mentioned, when the model is set to Gemini 2.5 Pro, but when I change the model to Gemini 2.5 Flash, it works. Hope this helps.

I had this problem with an mp4 audio upload - tried everything and it kept giving this error. Converted to an m4a file with Quicktime and it worked fine - maybe it’s a glitch with certain types of file?

It happened to me now, used to be fine hours ago.

Folks, what is going on? I was going to run some tests but can’t upload a video?
