I’ve been playing around with a web app using the “build” tab, and wanted to save it into github. When I first set up the github connection, the connection was set up correctly and I granted all permissions for all repositories in my organization. But when I tried to continue to create a new repo, google complained that it doesn’t have enough permissions. I checked github and it had seemingly enough permissions and I didn’t see any way to adjust permissions, so I thought I’ll delete the app integration in the hope it would work again. However, AI studio didn’t recognize that I removed the integration and still directly wants me to enter a repo name and then complains it doesn’t have permission. I couldn’t find any way to reset the github integration. Is there any way to manage that? Or is my account locked out of integrating with github now?
I’m having the same issue and cannot find the permission to update in GitHub or AI Studio. My issue is happening when I’m trying to deploy my code to GitHub; it says I don’t have the permissions but cannot change any info for Github in AI Studio.
GitHub Integration Issue — Reset Steps
If Google AI Studio says it lacks GitHub permissions even after you’ve granted access, try this reset:
-
Revoke Access on GitHub: Go to GitHub OAuth Apps and revoke Google’s access.
-
Remove Access on Google: Visit Google Account Permissions and remove GitHub from the list of connected apps.
-
Clear Cache or Use Incognito: This avoids stale tokens.
-
Reconnect Fresh: Return to AI Studio and re-authorise GitHub from scratch.
If it still fails, try creating the repo manually in GitHub and linking it from AI Studio.
Github doesn’t show in my Google Account Permissions Page. I tried Incognito mode as well without success.
I’ve been experiencing the same exact same issue. I think Google AI Studio team should’ve look into the solution like adding additional UI for ‘Revoke’ github integration or ‘refresh’ to check the authentication … who should I tag in this thread? I cannot find official support account
After around 12 hours later, Google AI Studio prompt again to make a connection to GitHub and it’s working properly now.
@Fitzroy_Edwards I tried all of these steps, but could not get it to work. I created the repo, but could not see anywhere to link to it… have you found a way to tell AiStudio which Repo to use?
@PineappleBingo What steps did you take?
I had the same issue and looking for a solution for last 1 week.
Now I figured out myself.
You have to remove the authenticated apps from Github. But it is different place than we think.
Not from OAuth apps.
On doing this, Google AI studio would ask again to login again.
Yeah - this still doesn’t work. I’m having the exact same problem and none of the work arounds above are working. For a supposed world leader in tech things this is a really bad integration folks - I suspect it was written by an AI. ![]()
If anyone has got any other work arounds that don’t involve repeatedly revoking access and trying in incognito etc then I’m all ears.
