I was testing the model for two days, and the chat context reached 400,000 tokens. Then I accidentally clicked the “create a new chat” button. My old chat disappeared after that, even though I had the “save to Google Drive” option turned on, but it’s not there. How can I restore the chat? It contained very important data.
Hi @abigeev, Welcome to forum!!!
Is it not saving any of your prompt or in this case only??
If autosave is enabled then it will save once the response is generated, if we switch in between during response generation it won’t be able to save.
Is it like earlier chats are also gone of same conversation in your case??
Hi @Govind_Keshari. Thank you for the response.
None of my prompts saved at all. I clicked save, a folder was created on Google Drive, so I wasn’t worried. But then I discovered the entire chat, which contained very important research, was gone. Can you please tell me if there’s any way to recover this chat, or at least the prompts?
Hi @abigeev, very sorry for the inconvenience, but if it is not saved in the drive, there is no way to recover.
Saving doesn’t related to token count, if autosave is enabled it should save the chat under “Google AI Studio” folder under drive.
Same issue except within my googledrive there are two saves and they are both identical in context 2 hours apart. Over 150k highly technical dev and error logs lost as well as tons of context. Is there seriously no way to escelate this and get a project back? I saw mine save multiple times and upon waking found a chat with a total context of 1k from 150k… Project ruined and will never be the same.
Same problem here.
Entire day of developing multiple complex scripts then I refreshed the browser and none of my ~10+ conversations have saved in the last 21 hours and yes autosave is on
Update:
In case it is helpful to folks…
I just noticed that if I go to my browser history and reload the aistudio page that was recently closed, it loads to a /new_chat page, but then you can use the browser Back button to get back to the earlier page that has a unique URL and this does recover your chat (note that this is from a recent chat so I don’t know if these are persistent in the way that other AI platforms have persistent urls)
Update 2:
On further examination, it turns out I am logged into AIStudio under both my personal and work google accounts and so the missing history was hidden in a different browser window, so this is a potential cause of this issue for some people if you are juggling too many google acconuts.
