I’m experiencing an issue with my Gemini API billing tier upgrade.
According to the Tier 2 eligibility requirements, my account should already qualify because:
My total API spend has exceeded $100 USD.
More than 3 days have passed since my first successful payment/top-up — in fact, it has already been 5 days.
However, my account is still showing Tier 1 and has not been upgraded to Tier 2.
The issue is now affecting my service because I have already reached the billing account-level usage limit, and my Gemini API service has been suspended/paused as a result.
Could someone from the Google team please help check whether there is an issue with the automatic tier upgrade, or whether any additional action is required on my side?
Billing Account ID: 01FBB5-****-F63D74**
(I can provide the full Billing Account ID privately if needed.)
Update: The upgrade has been automatically completed. It’s a bit strange that I observed several posts that, like me, were quickly resolved after publishing the topic:)
Bumping this as my production app is severely blocked by Tier 1 limits, despite fully meeting all Tier 2 criteria:
Actual Spend (Paid & Invoiced): $251 USD (100% direct credit card spend, no promo credits)
Remaining Prepaid Balance: $108 USD
Account Age: 4+ days since initial successful payment
The UI is completely bugged and does not show any upgrade button on the AI Studio API Keys page. Could you please escalate this to the engineering team for a manual backend whitelist?
