Tier 2 upgrade not working despite meeting all requirements - still on Tier 1

Hi team,

I made a payment to my billing account that exceeds the $100 requirement for Tier 2. According to the official documentation (https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/rate-limits), Tier 2 requires:

  • $100 payment to billing account (met)
    • 3 days since first successful payment (met - it has been 6 days)
      However, my account is still showing “Paid Tier 1” on the Rate Limit page in AI Studio. The documentation states that tier upgrades should take effect within 10 minutes once conditions are met, but it has been 6 days.

I have also submitted the Gemini API Quota and Billing Cap Increase Request form multiple times previously but never received any response.

Could someone from the team please look into this issue? I can provide my Billing Account ID and Project Number via DM if needed.

I am in the same situation and would love to be upgraded to tier 2 so I can continue developing without hiccups. I made a $100 payment 3 days ago and am still hitting limits.

Can you please help & DM me as well? My first successful payment was literally 6+ months ago, My account is showing “Tier 1” despite the billing showing Paid 3. Spent $3.6k this month but the limit should be $20k. Have 10k+ daily active users and prod is broken now!!

@Mustan_lokhand my account is showing billing tier 2 after meeting successful criteria however the usage tier is still tier 1. Could I have tier 2 reflected for my account as well?

My situation I’ve been paying gcp using credits being granted to me.

I requested a tier upgrade via the form and got approved to tier 3.

Just today it randomly bumped me back to tier 1.

But since my billing is paid by credits it also hasn’t upgraded. I’ve manually funded 100 to get to tier 2 even though I’ve first paid in April 2025 it still hasn’t upgraded my tier to 2.

Unfortunately no it isn’t restored yet.

A few hours ago I noticed the status shows the project status is “Downgraded” on all my projects.
