Feature Request: Chat Folders and Granular Memory Isolation

I would like to propose the introduction of two interconnected features to improve user organization and privacy management within Gemini:

  1. Chat Folders: The ability to create custom folders in the sidebar to group and categorize conversations (e.g., Work, Studies, Personal Projects), moving beyond the current purely chronological list.
  2. Granular Memory Control: The ability to enable or disable Gemini’s “Memory” feature on a per-folder basis, rather than globally.

Use Case & Benefits:
Currently, the memory feature is “all or nothing.” With this enhancement, a user could enable memory strictly for a “Work” folder (allowing Gemini to retain professional context), while keeping a “Personal” folder or individual chats completely isolated. This would prevent cross-context contamination and provide users with precise privacy control.

this is a solid idea, folders plus per folder memory control would really help keep work and personal stuff separate. worth also dropping this into the official feedback form so the product team sees it directly: https://support.google.com/gemini/contact/gemini_feedback
