Clarification needed: Does Google AI Studio "AI Plan Linking" include Plus & Pro subscribers, or only Ultra?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some clarification regarding the latest subscription and billing changes in Google AI Studio (as of the April 2026 updates).

Google recently announced that users can now “link” their Google AI subscription plans directly within AI Studio to access higher usage limits and integrated features. However, the public comparison page (https://one.google.com/about/google-ai-plans/#compare-plans) primarily focuses on consumer apps like Gmail and Docs and doesn’t explicitly mention AI Studio throughput or developer credits for every tier.

My specific questions are:

  1. Tier Availability: Is the ability to link a Google AI subscription to AI Studio exclusive to Google AI Ultra subscribers, or is it also available for the Google AI Pro and Google AI Plus tier?

  2. Usage Quotas: Does the “Plus” or “Pro” tier provide any increase in API rate limits (RPM/TPM) or daily requests (RPD) in AI Studio, or are those benefits reserved for the Ultra tiers?

It would be very helpful to have a clear breakdown of how the three consumer tiers (Plus, Pro, Ultra) map to AI Studio usage, as the current pricing page hasn’t been updated with these developer-specific details yet.

Thank you!

I have more specific details regarding the confusion between tiers:

In Google AI Studio, my account is correctly labeled with a “PRO” badge. However, when I click “Manage membership,” I am redirected to a Google One landing page that exclusively showcases the Google AI Ultra plan (€139.99/mo).

This page specifically lists “Highest limits for Google AI Studio” as a feature of the Ultra tier, but does not mention the Pro or Plus tiers at all.

My specific follow-up questions:

  1. Is the “Pro” badge in the UI purely cosmetic for developer accounts, or does a Google AI Pro subscription actually increase AI Studio rate limits?

  2. Is the “AI Studio integration” (and the monthly AI credits mentioned on that page) an Ultra-exclusive benefit, or will these features be scaled down to Pro and Plus subscribers as well?

The current redirect suggests that the only way to “manage” a membership for AI Studio benefits is to upgrade to Ultra. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Apparently they have just rolled back to the previous version of Google AI Studio as it was a messy implementation of Google AI plans.

Currently, my AI Studio has shown a Pro tag for the first time, and I’ve also been able to use a paid model, Nano Banana 2. It seems that my Pro subscription may already have been linked to the entitlements in AI Studio, but I still haven’t found the specific policy details.

It doesnt support google search grounding, so if you use gemini models with them, you get 0 rpd. It’s not really too difficult or expensive to add, but still quite needed for various workflows.

Hi

Plan linking in Google AI Studio is available for both Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers. It isn’t available for the Google AI Plus plan.

  • Pro gets you higher limits on Gemini 3.1 Pro, Nano Banana Pro, other models, and the Vibe Coding Agent in AI Studio.

  • Ultra gets you the highest limits for those same models.

You can check out these support articles for more details on what’s included in each plan:

Hope that helps!
