Cannot Access Google AI Studio, Italy, 36 years old

1. Account and Location Details

  • Age: 36 years old.

  • Location: Italy (Europe).

  • Account Type: [Specify here: my personal Gmail account, Gemini free for 1 year because I have download the certificate, I’m a student. I take a part of the group of the family account. gruppo Famiglia

2. Error Messages Received

When I attempt to open Google AI Studio, I am first blocked by the following message (in Italian/English):

“If you reached this page after attempting to open Google AI Studio, it might be because Google AI Studio is not available in your region or you do not meet the age requirements (18+) for access.”

However, both age (36+) and region (Italy) requirements are met.

After attempting to proceed, I also encountered a second, more technical error:

“:warning: Failed to list models: permission denied. Please try again.”

3. Steps I Have Already Taken

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:

  • Verified my age (36) is correct on my Google Account.

  • Confirmed that Italy is listed as an available region.

  • Cleared my browser cache and cookies.

  • Attempted to access the site using an Incognito/Private browser window.

  • Checked for an active Gemini API Key associated with my account.

4. Request

Since I meet the requirements and continue to receive permission errors, I believe there may be an issue with my specific account permissions or a bug related to the initial regional/age check.

Could you please investigate why my account is being flagged as restricted and help me regain access to Google AI Studio?

Based on your “permission denied” error and being part of a Family Group (“gruppo Famiglia”), the problem is likely due to restrictions on your Google account managed by the Family Group administrator.
Could you please check the account settings and remove any restrictions on your account.

I had to confirm my age as 18+ and upload my driver’s license.

Then I received the email message: ‘Your Google Account now shows that you are at least 18 years old, which means you can access more benefits included in your Google AI Pro subscription

Yes. Now I’m able to use Google AI with my account
