My Google account consistently receives “Failed to list models: permission denied” in Google AI Studio.
Details:
- Generative Language API is enabled and shows “Manage” in Cloud Console
- I am Owner of the project (gen-lang-*)
- MFA is enabled
- Issue persists across multiple devices, browsers, and networks
- Creating a new Cloud project does not resolve the issue
- Same behavior occurred on a separate Google account after ~1 month of use
This appears to be an account-level AI Studio / Gemini model entitlement issue rather than a project configuration problem.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a path to restore AI Studio access without enabling billing?

Update: Still experiencing this after 21 days. Issue persists across networks, devices, and fresh projects. Generative Language API shows ‘Manage’, IAM shows Owner. Happy to provide project ID or timestamps if helpful.

Important context:
- This account does NOT have a gen-lang-client-* auto-project because AI Studio fails before project provisioning completes (shows “Failed to load projects list”)
- I created this manual project myself to try to work around the issue
- The Generative Language API is enabled and shows “Manage” in Cloud Console
- I am Owner of the project
- Error persists across devices, browsers, and networks
