AI Studio cant watch uploaded videos

Hi everyone,

I’m a Google AI Pro subscriber from Turkey, and I’m having an issue with Google AI Studio when trying to use videos in a chat.

The video itself can be uploaded successfully, either from my local device or by selecting a video from Google Drive. However, when I add the uploaded video to the chat, change the FPS and click Send, I get the following error:

“Request contains unknown or unsupported capabilities.”

Interestingly, this does not happen when I use a YouTube video link. YouTube videos work as expected.

So, to clarify:

  • :white_check_mark: YouTube video link → works
  • :cross_mark: Locally uploaded video → error when clicking Send
  • :cross_mark: Video selected from Google Drive → error when clicking Send

I also tried videos in both MP4 and M4A formats, using different videos from different devices. The videos are not corrupted or converted in any way. They are standard videos, such as screen recordings or videos downloaded from the internet.

I’ve also tried different network connections, devices, AI models and browsers, but the issue persists. Even my videos works as well on gemini.google.com platform.

I’m not sure what could be causing this issue. Could this be a regional limitation affecting users in Turkey, or is there a known issue with processing uploaded videos in AI Studio?

I’d appreciate any help or insight into this issue, as I’m currently unable to use uploaded videos in AI Studio.

Thanks!
