Urgent account access issue — “Failed to list models: permission denied” despite Japan region and verified age

Hello Google AI Studio Team,

My account suddenly lost access to Gemini and Google AI Studio.

Google AI Studio shows:

“Failed to list models: permission denied. Please try again.”

I have already verified the following:

  • Google account associated country/region: Japan
  • Google Search currently detects my location as Tokyo, Japan
  • Age: over 18 and successfully verified by Google
  • Personal Google account
  • No Family Link or supervised account
  • Tested in Incognito mode
  • Tested multiple times after signing out and signing back in

Gemini still says that it is not supported in my location, and AI Studio still returns permission denied.

Please check whether my account has an incorrect backend region restriction, entitlement block, or false-positive access restriction, and escalate it for manual backend review.

We have recently rolled out a mandatory age verification initiative across signed-in customers globally, Accounts that have not completed explicit date-of-birth/identity verification should do so by navigating to Google Account Age Verification or verifying date of birth in Google Account Personal Info."

Also, disconnect any VPN, proxy, or iCloud Private Relay and access AI Studio directly. After completing these steps, please try again in a few hours, If you still face issues, please let us know.
