Whilst working on a project in AI Studio, I have received the “Upgrade to continue your flow” message that I used to get on the Free level. Three days ago I upgraded to the Pre-paid tier, depositing £20. I have used 76 pence of that leaving me with a balance of £19.24. My project has the billing account linked to it and spare credit, but I keep getting the, “Upgrade to continue your flow” message which also says, “You’ve reached your limit for the day, you can wait for it to reset or upgrade to continue and unlock even more.” When I press the “Continue to upgrade” button, I get a panel with two choices; “Gemini API” (pay per request) and “Google AI” (monthly subscription. "Gemini is highlighted. When I click the “Continue with pay per request” button, nothing happens, the panel just stays there, and the only way I can get rid of it is to hit the ‘Close Window’ icon. Any ideas on what I can try to resolve this?
I resolved this by following a Gemini suggestion, pulled from this forum. Here’s what I did:
Alternative Settings Override
Instead of using the pop-up modal, manually force the workspace to refresh your payment plan:
- Click the “Back to start” button or the home icon in the top left corner of AI Studio to leave the active prompt interface.
- Navigate into your Apps or project list and re-open the project.
- Click the Settings (gear icon) in the top right-hand corner of your workspace chat window.
- Manually toggle your active API key off and back on, ensuring the paid plan/billing account option is explicitly checked. [1, 2]
