So google Veo wont let me use images of realistic people because i am in england, even though the images are generated using an AI so they are not real people?

Honestly this is reallt frustrating and how do i get around this? I want to use Veos image to video feature to make cinematic videos but i cant use image to video and this in turn means that it is always generating a different character. I feel like this is an moneygrab to get you to spend more credits and just a way of conning the user… what is going on with this? Americans are allowed to use it to generate images of real people and there is no such law in the Uk that says we are not allowed to do so… so why is the restriction on the UK, we are not even part of europe and their ridiculous regulations? I feel like its a massive waste of money and a complete lie that you can generate “cinematic video” and “short films” but your character is going to look different in every shot. How am i supposed to make videos with the same characters? And is there a way i can get these restrictions lifted otherwise i am going to have to take my business elsewhere and Veo is basically useless…

Hello,

Welcome to the Forum

Could you please walk me through your problem step by step? This will help me reproduce the issue on my side and analyze it more effectively.

Yes so basically I am generating images of people in flux. As i can train Loras on a character i made for flux but havnt got around to learning how to do this on your platform. I then upload the image of the photorealistic person into Google Veo or Flow and then it says i cannot use images of photorealistic people in my country. This seems ridiculous as the photo itself is AI generated and the person is completely. It wont let me upload the photo into the image to video section it wants me to generate an image inside flow itself. But flow wont let me train a lora on the character I already have. Sorry ab out late response, it got filtered to my spam folder.

If you try Google AI Studio or Gemini API, the model should process the image, I tried doing the same and it worked.
I would recommend trying Gemini API and see if you get desired results.

If you still face the same issue, please feel free to reach out again, we are always happy to help you.

Just wondering are you in America? Because im in england and for some reason they are funny about it here. I will try what you asked and let you know if it solves the problem

I have experienced the same problem when using the Gemini API. I provided an image reference and it said that it violates the policy. I am in South Africa.

Hello,

For starts I would recommend going through safety filters in Gemini API video generation docs and confirm that any of the safety guidelines are not violated.

I will give this a look, although veo also had a problem the other day because I asked it to do a macro close up shot of two hands intimately touching, a scene designed to show love but I think it freaked out because I used the word intimate, veo has so many restrictions i feel like this product is basically impossible to use, so many restrictions, I don’t know how they expect people to keep paying for it and actually produce anything that we actually want.

Hello,

I understand sometimes these restriction can be frustrating, but these guide rails are put in place after carefully consideration and are in line with regulations.

If you wish to reduce these restriction, you can adjust some it. Safety settings docs have more details about this.

Your regulations don’t allow people to generate images of peoples hands touching, your model will be dead in the water unless you lift ridiculous restrictions like these and people will go elsewhere.

Hello,

I apologize for the inconvenience. I understand it might feel unfair to users who are using the models responsibly. However, implementing safety guardrails is necessary to comply with the law of the land and to protect society from potential misuse, which could otherwise compromise people’s privacy, safety, and dignity.

But it isnt illegal in england to generate images of people’s hands touching or images of realistic people as many other companies allow this. So it isnt a legal issue…also you have a hidden watermark on all ai generated content made with Google so doesn’t i feel like i deserve some sort of credit reimbursement as I cant make all the images that I need. Your product falls short of what it is said to offer and just doesn’t actually produce what your company says it can produce. And your answer is… it might feel unfair…:joy: it isnt that it feels unfair. It is genuinely ridiculous. What can google offer me to make up for their absolute disappointment of a product that I have paid for?

Hello,

Could you please DM me your reference images, prompts, configuration, and the model’s responses? This will help me reproduce the issue, analyze it more effectively, and prepare a detailed report.

Hello, I’m providing feedback on the content policy regarding photorealistic people, as it currently impacts creators with narrative-driven projects in the EU.

1. Use Case:

My project is to create a short film using Veo 3. The characters in this film are 100% fictional and were themselves generated using AI. They are not based on any real individuals, and the goal is purely creative storytelling.

2. Current Limitation:

The current safety policy appears to implement a blanket ban on all photorealistic human characters. This blocks the animation of my fictional characters and prevents the completion of my project.

3. Suggestion:

While the policy is clearly intended to prevent harmful deepfakes of real people, its current implementation is too broad. It doesn’t distinguish between that harmful use case and the legitimate creative use of animating entirely fictional characters.

I suggest the policy could be refined to allow for the use of AI-generated fictional people. This would unlock significant potential for filmmakers, game developers, and storytellers on the platform without compromising the core safety goal of protecting real individuals’ likenesses.

Thank you for considering this feedback.
