Resource exhausted error on Gemini code assistant plugin on IntelliJ with AI Pro plan

I got the Google’s AI Pro plan, installed the official Gemini code assistant IntelliJ plugin and the nightmare started. I often get:

"The server encountered a resource exhausted error. This is likely due to the number of requests issued reaching your quota."

I’ve barely used it. Yes I have waited between requests. Even hours after not touching it I’ll get that ‘exhausted’ message for trying a simple change on a one file project.

I’ve tried restarting IntelliJ, invalidating its cache, reauthenticating into Google’s plugin again and I still get that error. It’s just unacceptable!

What do I do??

After using Github’s IntelliJ plugin (and selecting Gemini 3 pro) to code I was so satisfied with the results that I got the Google AI pro plan. The embedded Gemini 3 pro call in Github’s plugin (which I paid only 10 bucks) worked way harder, longer without any problems until (rightfully so) it exhausted days later.

There’s a clear problem/bug here:

MS → request → Gemini 3 pro = OK buddy.

User with Pro plan → request → Gemini 3 pro = ExHauSted!!1!
