I am writing to report a persistent issue I am encountering in Google AI Studio. When I attempt to upload a document file (such as a PDF or DOCX) to extract its text and add it to a prompt, the file conversion process consistently fails.
Steps to Reproduce:

Navigate to the Google AI Studio interface and create a new prompt.

Click on the file attachment icon to upload a file and add its content to the prompt.

Select a local document from my computer.

The interface shows the file with a “Converting” status indicator.

After a few moments, the process terminates.
Expected Behavior:
The document should be successfully converted, and its text content should be extracted and populated into the prompt input area, ready for use with the model.
Actual Behavior:
The conversion process fails, and a notification appears at the bottom of the screen with the error message: “Failed to convert file.” No text is extracted or added to the prompt. This issue occurs repeatedly, preventing me from using local documents as context for my prompts.
This appears to be a problem with the backend file processing service. Any assistance or information on a potential fix would be greatly appreciated as this is a critical feature for my workflow.
