I am experiencing a critical issue where I can no longer upload any PDF files to Google AI Studio. I consistently receive the error message: “File upload failed: undefined”.
Problem Description:
- All PDF files (regardless of size or content) fail to upload.
- The exact error message displayed is: “File upload failed: undefined”.
- This issue started suddenly around 11:00 AM KST (Korean Standard Time) on May 31, 2025. Previously, PDF uploads were working fine.
- This affects all my Google AI Studio projects and new attempts.
Steps I have already taken (Troubleshooting performed): I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps, but the problem persists:
- Browser-related:
- Cleared browser cache and cookies (Chrome).
- Tried uploading in Incognito mode (Chrome).
- Tried uploading using different browsers (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox).
- Ensured my browser is up to date.
- File-related:
- Tested with various PDF files (different sizes, page counts, and content).
- Confirmed that the PDF files are not corrupted and can be opened normally with other PDF viewers.
- Tried renaming files to simple English names without special characters.
- Attempted to split or compress PDF files.
- Account/Connection-related:
- Checked available Google Drive storage (sufficient space available).
- Confirmed a stable internet connection.
- Refreshed the Google AI Studio page multiple times (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R).
- Tried logging in with a different Google account (if applicable, state if you tried this, otherwise remove).
- Waited for a few hours in case of a temporary system issue or update.
- Confirmed the Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview 05-06 model generally supports PDF uploads.
Despite these extensive troubleshooting steps, the “File upload failed: undefined” error continues for all PDF uploads. This is significantly hindering my work on Google AI Studio.
Could you please investigate this issue or provide further guidance on how to resolve it? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
