Paid Tier 2 unexpectedly reverted to Tier 1 — Veo 3 Lite quota dropped from 50 to 10 RPD

My Gemini API billing account was officially upgraded to Paid Tier 2 on August 17, 2026, and I received the confirmation email from Google AI Studio.

After the upgrade, I successfully used the higher Tier 2 limits for several days, including the higher daily Veo 3 Lite quota.

The same billing account and the same Default Gemini Project now show Tier 1 again. Veo 3 Lite is currently limited to 10 RPD, and video generation fails with a quota-exceeded / 429 error.

I am not requesting a custom rate-limit increase. I am asking for investigation of an apparent Tier 2 → Tier 1 regression and restoration of the Paid Tier 2 status that Google already granted to this billing account.

Google Cloud Billing Support reviewed the issue and confirmed they do not have the tools required to resolve the tier state. All screenshots were attached to support case #74649089, and I was directed to the Gemini API community / Developer Relations team for further assistance.

Evidence available includes:

  • official Paid Tier 2 upgrade confirmation
  • current Tier 1 status
  • Veo 3 Lite showing 16/10 RPD
  • active prepaid balance
  • usage history and 429 errors

Could someone from the Gemini API team please review the account/project tier state and help restore the previously granted Paid Tier 2 status?

Sincere apologies for this issue. Please use this form to report sudden tier downgrades, our team will check this: Gemini API Tier Downgrade Report Form

Thank you for the response. The issue has already been resolved on my end, so no further action is needed.

Great thanks for confirming. Glad its resolved.
