How much score you got?

I have one question with Google Developer Competition administrators. After the competition is over they will give certificates. Do they also write on certificates, how much you scored in each category?

Was not mentioned anywhere.

Yes, it was not mentioned but then how you can know how much good you are. Many projects are very simple and giving everyone the same certificate is not fair. If they write a score on the certificate that is good.

I wish they do. Any form of feedback would be helpful

Where did they even say that they would give a certificate?

But yeah I agree with you, I want some feedback.

I checked the rules, I didn’t see anything related to certification, which is understandable frankly. Feedback-wise, not sure if they’ll do so, it is a workload to an extent and will increase the likelihood of folks appealing if what they expect doesn’t match Google’s critique.

Most of the time participants are given certificates. It is not that they write it specifically.

They do not need to write. Almost in all competitions and hackathons certificates are given. It is an understood thing.

They already gave us badges. I don’t think there will be certifications. And rarely are hackathon scores released on larger scale hackathons because people love to negotiate on them.

Badges are nothing. You can show certificates on your LinkedIn profile. Secondly, it is a very big competition. It is not a 3-day or 1-week hackathon. It will be not fair if there are no certificates. If they do not release scores then what is the difference between a good and bad project?

Where are those badges?

Maybe your dreams will be shattered and @luluthepooh supports us as I told you, most of the time certificates of participation are given even in small hackathons.

This is part of why you had access to all of the projects to review for yourself.

You’ll be able to see the videos for the winners. You’ll be able to do your own evaluation.

In the past, when I’ve been in hackathons, I took a hard look at what made the winning projects stand out. And I tried to learn from them.

I think this isn’t a Hackathon, it’s a competition. It’s important to remember this distinction.

The rules didn’t say anything about participatory certificates. It’s up to the competition hosts to award these or not. My guess is they won’t. I personally don’t think these are helpful to show on LinkedIn because it doesn’t prove much to potential employers if you didn’t win anything - a person who visited Harvard university vs. someone who graduated from Harvard.

As for feedback regarding how our submissions did in scores, again it’s up to the competition hosts to provide these or not. Of course this would be very helpful for everyone. Again, my guess is they won’t. Why? If you’ve ever had to fire someone, you know it’s not a good idea to criticize them or list the reasons why, as the employer.

The focus will only be on the winners now, unfortunately.

Note: It’s the first time I’ve competed in a competition since high school (I don’t participate in hackathons either).

I attended Google Cloud events in Denmark. Even in events, they gave printed certificates of participation. Google is very organized and this event is online and is even more organized. I hope hosts will give certificates. May be they will tell everybody about score through email but do not mention them on certificates. They have their own judging criteria that will be managed by highly professional people. It is an innovative competition. In innovation it is difficult to decide who is best. You never know what works or not. They will not depend on our votes for judging.

I’m not a Googler, but ofc that not all 3k+ submissions will get the prizes, we are only talking about getting badges on this forum, or printed/PDF certificates emailed to us, or something like that.

Money won’t be given to 3k+ submissions, but a PDF file or forum badge could easily be given to 3k+ teams/individuals.

Yes, I am also talking about printed PDF certificates not about money. That is a luck that they like your project between many good projects. I talked about scoring because there are not only 10 good projects but many. It will be unfair if they are given simple certificates without scoring but this happens usually in competitions. I have no issue with it. I asked this question to organizers of competition. I hope somebody will reply.

Same i just need recognition because this is my first project so just a feedback is enough to improve myself
