TL;DR — My account has an active Google One AI Pro (5 TB) subscription and its region is Japan, which IS listed in the official “Available locations for Gemini Code Assist for individuals”. OAuth sign-in completes successfully, but loadCodeAssist returns “not eligible for Gemini Code Assist for individuals”, and the language-server log shows that no project, no location and no tier are ever provisioned for the account. This is a backend entitlement provisioning failure, not a client, network or region problem — and not a pending-verification problem either.
IMPORTANT — THIS IS NOT A PENDING-VERIFICATION PROBLEM
Please do not close this as “please complete verification first”. Verification is not what is missing:
- My account was ALREADY verified and signed in successfully — sign-in worked normally at that time.
- Even in that successfully signed-in AND verified state, EVERY conversation attempt failed with “Error: Verification Required” (Error ID: c5e70a72-7287-4139-8bc5-5d91ad5040de-22) together with the yellow banner “Verification required — Please verify your account to continue using Antigravity”. So the failure occurred WITH verification satisfied.
- Later the failure moved one gate earlier: now sign-in itself fails, because loadCodeAssist returns “not eligible” and the client rolls the login back. The account has degraded.
- I cannot re-run verification:
- The SMS flow requires me to SEND an SMS from my phone to a Google short code, which my carrier does not deliver.
- The alternative path I used previously (phone verification through Google Cloud) succeeded once and can no longer be repeated on this account.
- What is actually missing is a BACKEND ENTITLEMENT: the language-server log shows NO project, NO location and NO tier for the account (SetProjectID / SetLocation / SetUserTier all empty) while “Auth succeeded” is logged. Completing verification again cannot create a Cloud Code project.
ACCOUNT
- Personal Google account registered in 2020/2021 — not a new account, not a Workspace account, and not a member of any Google family group (verified on myaccount.google.com/family: no family group exists).
- Active subscription: Google One AI Pro (5 TB).
- Google Terms of Service country/region version: Japan.
- The Gemini web app works normally on this same account.
- Account email available on request.
THIS IS NOT A REGION-AVAILABILITY ISSUE
- Japan IS listed in Gemini Code Assist consumer accounts | Google for Developers
- The account’s Google Terms of Service country version is Japan.
- I sign in through a Japan exit and the requests reach daily-cloudcode-pa.googleapis.com, receiving a server response.
- My error is about ELIGIBILITY / TIER PROVISIONING, not “location not supported”.
PROGRESSION — two gates, one root cause
Stage 1 (earlier): signed in AND verified, but conversations blocked.
- Sign-in worked normally.
- Every conversation returned “Error: Verification Required” (Error ID: c5e70a72-7287-4139-8bc5-5d91ad5040de-22) with the yellow banner “Verification required — Please verify your account to continue”.
Stage 2 (now): sign-in itself fails.
- OAuth completes successfully:
[Auth] Auth state changed to: validatingLogin - Then the entitlement check fails:
[CloudCode] POST v1internal:loadCodeAssist traceId: ccdbef70b7142f56
[error] Failed to make POST request: Your account is not eligible for
Gemini Code Assist for individuals at this time
[Auth] Auth state changed to: loginError
[Auth] Localhost server stopped - The client silently discards the completed OAuth login, so from the user’s point of view the browser login succeeds and the app “does nothing”.
Full IDE auth.log excerpt:
[Auth] Localhost server listening on port 6973
[Auth] Login URL: https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/v2/auth?...&redirect_uri=http://localhost:6973/oauth-callback
[Auth] Auth state changed to: validatingLogin
[CloudCode] POST v1internal:loadCodeAssist traceId: ccdbef70b7142f56
[error] Failed to make POST request: Your account is not eligible for
Gemini Code Assist for individuals at this time
[Auth] Auth state changed to: loginError
[Auth] Localhost server stopped
Reproduced in the Antigravity 2.0 desktop client with a different traceId (0x17624c8599e83…).
UI STATE
- IDE shows the yellow banner “Verification required — Please verify your account to continue using Antigravity”.
- Conversation attempts return “Error: Verification Required” (Error ID: c5e70a72-7287-4139-8bc5-5d91ad5040de-22).
- The 2.0 client shows “Your account is not eligible for Gemini Code Assist for individuals at this time” with “Continue with a different account”.
- The verification flow itself never resolves: the SMS / short-code verification is never confirmed on the phone side, and re-running the flow just loops.
LANGUAGE SERVER LOG — NO PROJECT, NO LOCATION, NO TIER
[AuthProvider] SetEnableBusinessLogin called with enable: true
[AuthProvider] SetWIFProvider called with wifProvider: “”
[AuthProvider] SetProjectID called with projectID: “”
[AuthProvider] SetLocation called with location: “”
[AuthProvider] SetUserTier called with userTier: “”, tierDisplayName: “”
…
server.go:3004] Auth succeeded, refreshing features and managers
So authentication succeeds, but the Cloud Code project and tier are never provisioned for this account.
ALREADY RULED OUT
- Client: reproduced on both Antigravity IDE and the 2.0 desktop client.
- Network / region: switching the exit region (tested Japan) makes no difference; requests reach the backend and receive responses.
- Family sharing: the account is not in any Google family group.
- Stale local state: signing out, revoking the app’s access at myaccount.google.com/connections, and signing in fresh reproduces the same result.
- Same error is produced by Gemini CLI on this account.
REQUEST
This is a server-side provisioning issue, not a user-action issue. Please provision the Cloud Code project / issue the Gemini Code Assist entitlement for this account, or review and reset its eligibility state. The traceIds ccdbef70b7142f…(IDE auth.log) and 0x17624c8599e83.. (2.0 client) should let you locate the backend requests.
