Gemini API Paid Tier 2 upgrade button not appearing — already meet requirements

Hi everyone,

I’ve been on Gemini API Paid Tier 1 since February 2026 and I believe I now meet all the requirements for Tier 2, but the Upgrade button is not showing up in AI Studio.

Payment history (all real charges to my card, no promotional credits):

  • Feb 1, 2026: Monthly charge
  • Feb 20, 2026: Threshold charge
  • Mar 1, 2026: Monthly charge
  • Total: approximately $330 USD

Why I think I qualify:

  • Over $250 USD in real charges (no promotional credits)
  • First payment was February 1, 2026 — more than 30 days ago

Despite meeting both conditions, there is no Upgrade button visible on the API keys page in AI Studio.

Has anyone experienced this and found a solution? Is there a way to manually request the upgrade or escalate this?

Got the same issue here, got redirected to a google forms which doesn’t do anything. Billing support won’t do anything either but redirect you to that form.

If we start a discussion with each other, the topic may remain at the top of the list, allowing the relevant personnel to notice it and begin assisting us.

Seems like they can’t even keep up with the Tier 1 rate limits at the moment.

I am having the same issue and they basically stated we have no solution and there is no one we can point you towards to give you an actual answer.
