Hi Google Team,
I’d like to suggest a feature for Gemini: the ability to pin a few key messages in a conversation so they stay prioritized as context, no matter how long the chat gets.
The problem: In longer conversations — coding sessions, ongoing projects, multi-step tasks — the instructions or constraints I set early on start losing priority as the thread grows. I end up repeating myself constantly just to keep Gemini on track.
What I’m suggesting: Let users pin up to 3 messages per conversation (similar to message pinning in WhatsApp/Telegram). Pinned messages would stay weighted as important context throughout the thread, with a small header showing what’s currently pinned so they’re easy to manage or remove.
Why it’d help:
Keeps output consistent over long sessions instead of drifting from the original instructions
Cuts down on repeating the same context over and over
Gives the model an explicit signal for what actually matters instead of relying on recency alone
Would appreciate any thoughts on whether this is feasible, or if there’s already a workaround I’m missing.
