I got the issue in some of my chats when I was about to resume them, when I typed my message and clicked send, AI would proceed but only for a short time (between the 1.0 to 3.0 or much longer seconds range) before failing with an internal error has occurred and a error message, “Failed to generate content, please try again.” At first it was something I thought would be fixed via a retry, but nope. It didn’t, same error. Even switching models didn’t help either, now I have no choice but to start a new chat from scratch to resume where I left off. I hoped it gets fixed because if not, it would be a pain for not only me, but also a lot of people.
Same for me here , can anyone propose fix?
or should we switch to a different model?
Even that wouldn’t solve it, I tried to swap to different models, all ended up in the same result. We’ll have to wait until we got a lot of responses from people that encountered the same issue.
i was getting this same issue for a while now (aswell as ‘too many input tokens’), i posted about it in my own thread but it seems to have fixed itself somehow. i dont know how or why. ive also been getting ‘quota exceeded’ a lot (even though i did not exceed the 150 Requests Per Minute limit, unless if there is a hidden /day limit)
Yesterday I randomly began having that error whenever I attached a video from my Google Drive, and today it started to throw out the same error for Google Drive videos once again, no idea why it happens other than a guess that Gemini servers are perhaps overloaded, idk
update: I seem to have jinxed it as it has mysteriously reappeared. it just seems to come and go when it feels like it.
And a few days later, yea, I tested it out and yet… it wouldn’t let me continue my chat on a story I made a few days ago. When i tried sending messages into that, it would proceed, but only for a few seconds (1 - 3 seconds) before spatting the same error again, and again, and again, no matter what model of Gemini on AI Studio, or retrying several times would do, the result is the same. “An internal error has occured”, and “Failed to generate content, please try again.” This is getting annoying, when will Google fix this mess we all have to suffer?
Even branching or copying it wouldn’t help it.
Basically, the AI wanted us to start a new chat to continue instead. Which is super annoying!
its a weird issue too. it happens only to one chat i made, goes away for a day, comes back, and stays like that until it feels like going away. i have a chat with over 950,000 tokens and not once have i gotten these kinds of errors, only “permission denied” which i fixed with a simple refresh..
Yeah, I get that issue from time to time as well. I think what I normally do is either hit ctrl + F5 to refresh the page, close and re-open my browser or just restart the whole chat and try again. It can be a bit of an inconvenience and a little annoying at times, but not the end of the world.
My guess is that Google’s servers are overloaded and thus throws that error, but I am not sure.
i would assume the same that it’s overload, but it just comes and goes; with specific chats too. i recently just hit 1,016,000 tokens on a specific chat with no error but on my other smaller chats i keep getting this error despite it not appearing on the one with 1M+ tokens..
I’ve been experiencing the same issue, and I think I might have pinpointed when it happens.
It seems to occur specifically in chats that include large video (around 3 minutes / 100 MB).
Did your chat include any video?
not really videos, but a mix of images and videos. in one chat i have a ton of images and videos, but in another its just images but not as much. plausible cause because on a separate prompt i just reached 1,042,000+ tokens and not a single error…
