and after 1 second it redirects me to the available regions page. The thing is that I am from an available region, and I believe my account is set in it, so how to fix it or at least can I know why it doesn’t let me.
also, on a side note I can enter and use idx no problem (just saying because I don’t know if it’s locked behind something like the aistudio)
Since you have worked out that the API backend for retrieving the model list doesn’t work, and that some other method being attempted by the application produces a redirect for your account but not a substitute account, it indeed may be an account setting. The first is that the geo page also says you can reach it if “you don’t meet the age requirements (18+) for access”
When you created a developer account, there were profile fields for location there that asked for a city.
I note that your display language is Chinese, with China not being a supported country. Google is smart enough to infer information about you and follow you around the web, and might have their own ad division ideas about you from your phone number and backup accounts, patterns of web usage via authentication web bugs, dozens of APIs and business service account setups you might have forgotten about, payment methods and banking locations, organizations you are associated with, who’s emailing you, cookies on a dozen domains, etc, if you just cannot find an account setting to set your location.
They still want from me an address, and one slip-up (like believing that device location tracking as a web setting actually stops continued telemetry), will make you fingerprinted if you are actually trying to circumvent policies.
This is the correct forum site for support (unlike where you were first asking about Gemini on the IDX forum) where someone from Google can actually investigate the particular issue, once you get some attention - and report to the rest of us the origin of the issue (so it doesn’t take staff interaction in the future if it can be self-remedied.)
Regarding the age associated with my Google account, I am confident that it is set to reflect an age above 18. While I cannot confirm with absolute certainty if it has been verified, I believe it has been. However, I was unable to locate an option to verify this.
My Google Developer account should already be linked to my primary Google account. Additionally, I actively use various Google services daily, including Google Home, Family Link (as a parent), and Google Authenticator, among others.
As for the display language, I am unsure how it has changed. I have no association with China, nor have I worked with or interacted with anyone or anything connected to that region. I also have not traveled there or to areas remotely close to China.
Could you advise on how to change the display language back to my preference? Additionally, would setting a home address in my Google account help resolve this issue?
Just yesterday, I was trying to start building with Gemini. I also encountered this issue. The way I managed to fix it is by verifying my age on Google using https://myaccount.google.com/age-verification.
