[Bug/Support] Automatically downgraded from Tier 3 to Tier 1

I am writing to report an issue where my Gemini API access tier was automatically downgraded from Tier 3 to Tier 1, despite no changes being made on my end. This has caused an outage in my production environment.

  • It was automatically downgraded to Tier 1 without any prior notification.
  • Billing for the project is active, and there are no issues such as missed payments.
  • I have not made any configuration changes or engaged in any activities that would violate the terms of service.

Impact:

  • I have been encountering “429 Rate limit” errors in my production environment.

Actions already taken:

  • I changed the payment method from post-paid to pre-paid. After switching to pre-paid, the tier was upgraded from Tier 1 back to Tier 3.
