[Bug Report] Pro Subscription Limits Glitch: "Quota Exceeded" error after the very first prompt (June 18)

I am creating this thread to bring this to the attention of the Google development team and to see if anyone else is affected. Today, June 18, I encountered a critical issue with the Google AI Studio web interface.

The Core Issue:

Despite having an active Pro subscription, the system completely blocks generation. Immediately after sending the very first prompt, a message appears stating that the limits are exhausted (error 429 RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED).

Important Details:

  • Until today (June 18), everything worked absolutely perfectly, and there was no quota overage on my end.
  • The error occurs on the very first message, meaning the actual usage is zero.
  • Switching accounts does not solve the problem; the glitch persists everywhere.
  • Standard methods like clearing the browser cache and logging in again do not help.

The system behaves as if my account suddenly lost its Pro status and received a zero limit for advanced models. It looks like a global billing synchronization bug on the platform’s backend that coincided with today’s technical updates.

To the Google Team:

Please investigate this incident. Because of this error, the workflow is completely paralyzed, and testing prompts is impossible.

Fellow forum members, has anyone else caught this same block today? I would be very grateful if someone could share a working workaround for this problem while we wait for an official patch.

Same here, my first prompt in over a week and it says I have exhausted my quota for today. Also Pro plan. Is our daily quota now zero requests?

Same problem here. I only used around 30K tokens today and hit quota limit?? (on the pro subscription). works fine with any other account without pro

Got this same Issue around 6:30 EST as well same error message and everything. Also on pro Plan.

This persists for each and every model. Cannot even use 3.1 Flash Lite for even 1 message having not used it in days.

same here!! honestly I cannot afford for AI Studio to be down and there is no way to even contact Google support (they have the worst customer service yet amazing products). I need reassurances that the quota exceeded limit error is just temporary.

same happened to me it says "Http response at 400 or 500 level, error: , http status code: 500 " then it says " exceed quota limit "

Yes, I have 3 Google AI Pro subscriptions and experienced the identical issue you described today. It’s like I’ve lost my 3 best software engineers–and now my Google AI Pro subscriptions (for my purposes) are essentially useless. I love my workflow. Please fix this. :folded_hands:

Exact same issue. Zero use since the daily reset and hit with a Quota Exceeded error for every model. This is with first level Ultra sub.

I am a Google AI Pro subscriber too and today AI Studio suddenly stopped working across all models.

Symptoms:

  • “User has exceeded quota” error

  • “You’ve reached your rate limit” error

  • Occasionally “Permission denied” and “Internal error”

  • Happens on both text and image models

Models tested:

  • Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite

  • Gemini 3.1 Flash

  • Nano Banana 2

  • Nano Banana Pro

Even a simple prompt such as:

“say hello”

fails immediately.

Additional information:

  • Google AI Pro subscription is active

  • Correct Google account is being used

  • AI Studio Rate Limit dashboard does not show any exceeded limits

  • Issue started on June 17

  • Support confirmed this is not expected behavior and suggested submitting feedback to the AI Studio team

I have also noticed several other Google AI Pro subscribers reporting the same issue today.

Is there currently an outage or a quota-recognition issue affecting Google AI Pro accounts in AI Studio?

The gemini.google.com is working fine and has 8% usage

Happening here as well. Despite an AI Pro subscription, the quotas now are much worse than they were back when I was on the free tier.

just go to your dashboard and then click on rate limit

Now, its seems it’s working again here on my end. I’ve tried 2 image generations and it’s back to normal, apparently. I think you guys should give it a try.

Indeed, mine has also returned to its normal state; I posited my query within my six-hundred-thousand-token conversation, and it responded with effortless ease.
