Dear Gemini Support / Engineering Team,
I am reporting a critical synchronization bug between GCP Billing and Google AI Studio that has completely paralyzed my production environment. Despite meeting all Tier 2 requirements and having a successful currency migration to PLN, the Gemini API service fails to recognize my tier status.
The Issue:
My Billing Account correctly shows Tier 2 status, but Google AI Studio and all associated projects are stuck on Tier 1. This creates a “phantom” spending cap that blocks all requests.
Technical Breakdown:
-
GCP Billing Status: My account is confirmed as Paid Tier 2. After the recent currency migration, the limit is correctly set to approx. 7,426 PLN.
-
AI Studio Status: The dashboard incorrectly flags my projects as Paid Tier 1.
-
The Sync Error: I am receiving the error:
Billing account monthly spending cap reached. Increase cap to resume. -
The Discrepancy: My actual spend is only 13.35 PLN, which is far below both Tier 1 and Tier 2 limits.
-
Inheritance Bug: Every new project I create under this Tier 2 Billing Account is automatically assigned Tier 1 status. The projects are not inheriting the Billing Account’s tier.
Evidence & Support History:
I have cross-verified this with GCP Billing Support. They confirmed that the billing side is functioning correctly and the issue lies within the AI Studio / Gemini API Tier propagation logic.
I have an open support case regarding this: Case ID 70026313.
Request:
I need a Gemini API engineer to manually force-refresh the Tier synchronization between my Billing Account and my AI Studio projects. As a developer, I have no way to fix this on my end as the system is reporting conflicting data.
Is anyone else experiencing this after the local currency migration? Any help from the Google team would be greatly appreciated.
