[BUG] Account redirected to "Available regions" page — Belgium (supported), 19 years old, age verified

Hello,

I can no longer access Google AI Studio with my main Google account. I am located in Belgium (a supported region), I am 19 years old (born April 2007, age verified), and I was using Google AI Studio every day for my project.

Since yesterday, every time I try to access aistudio.google.com, the message “Unable to check your Google AI Subscription” appears briefly, then I am automatically redirected to the “Available regions for Google AI Studio and Gemini API” page.

I have tried:

  • Clearing cache and cookies
  • Private/incognito browsing
  • Different browser
  • My phone
  • Changing account language to English (US)
  • Disabling VPN

None of these worked. However, with another Google account (same region, same device), it works perfectly. So the issue is specifically with my main account.

This is critical because all my project source code (10 modules) is stored only in Google AI Studio under this account.

Can anyone help me regain access to my account? Thank you.

Hello @Chantiflash ,
We have recently rolled out a mandatory age verification initiative across signed-in customers globally, Accounts that have not completed explicit date-of-birth/identity verification should do so by navigating to Google Account Age Verification or verifying date of birth in Google Account Personal Info."

Also, Make sure you are accessing AI Studio from one of the supported regions, disconnect any VPN, proxy, or iCloud Private Relay and access AI Studio directly.

After completing these steps, please try again in a few hours, If you still face issues, please let us know.

Come to the forum to report the same issue. I’m in an available region and done the age verification.

Disconnecting from the VPN solved the issue for me, but a Cloudflare VPN connected to Amsterdam shouldn’t cause an issue in the first place…

Edit: and now it works as usual with the VPN enabled. Strange.

A few days has passed since I last wrote here.

Since then I’ve encountered this issue 2-3 times a day. Disabling from the VPN, reloading the AI Studio page and enabling the VPN has become my routine now.

Bit annoying but not the end of the world. Would be nice to have this issues resolved though.

Hello @Simitis ,
Apologies for this experience, could you please fill out this form to report this. We are trying to collate the details related to this issue. Thanks!

Hello Mahesh, think that form is a bit irrelevant. It has nothing to with servers. While this forum is related to https://aistudio.google.com/, because this is a location/VPN issue, it also effects other services such as the API, Antigravity etc.

Hi @Simitis - Thanks for reaching out. Usually even if it works for you through the VPN, we do not officially support any issues that are occurring due to VPN usage.

The official recommendation is that users should be using AIS without VPN.

Hello Aakash.

I can understand why the “official recommendation” is not to use a VPN when using AI Studio.

But the VPN / Account redirected issue is not just related to AI Studio. So far I’ve noticed it with AI Studio, Antigravity, the API and Google Flow. And I’m guessing this is just the tip of the iceberg.

While I can disable my VPN (which is hosted on a Dutch server by the way) and continue using the services, I’m pretty confident that there are people out there who don’t have the luxury of disabling their VPNs for whatever reason.

Just my 2 cents, do whatever you want with this information.
