[Academic Research] Guidance needed: Academic access/grant for Gemini API (PhD project on LLM Process Decomposition)

Hi everyone,

I am a postgraduate researcher at the Moscow Finance and Law Academy (MFUA), and I am looking for guidance from the community or the DevRel team on the best way to apply for academic access (or a research grant) for the Gemini API via Google AI Studio.

About the Research (2026–2028) My doctoral research is dedicated to “The Application of LLMs for Business Process Decomposition.” We are conducting rigorous scientific experiments to evaluate how effectively frontier models can break down high-level business requirements into precise operational processes.

Our definitive objective is to submit our comprehensive findings and methodological framework to the EMNLP 2026 main conference.
We have already published one work in EMNLP (we are preparing a series of works):
[Tokenization and the Alignment Problem: A Comparative Study of the Influence of LLM Architecture on Business Process Decomposition]
Technical Specifications & Needs
Our experimental setup is highly resource-conscious. Here is what we are looking for:

  • Target Model: Stable access to Gemini 2.5 Flash to analyze its advanced multi-step reasoning capabilities and context window efficiency. (Access to underlying tokenizer tools would be a huge plus for token-efficiency analysis).

  • Estimated Workload: Maximum of 1000–1800 API requests per day, strictly dedicated to automated prompt evaluation and process matrix validation.

Mutual Benefits & Community Impact

  • High-Impact Publication: By aiming for EMNLP 2026, we will explicitly cite Google Gemini as our core infrastructure, highlighting its efficiency in complex structural decomposition tasks within the international NLP community.

  • Technical Feedback: We are fully prepared to share our curated datasets and structured feedback regarding Gemini’s performance on edge-case process flows directly with the Google Research team.

  • Academic Popularization: I plan to showcase the experimental results and the advantages of the Google AI Studio ecosystem during academic seminars and university research circles.

Could anyone point me in the right direction to formalize this request or connect me with the right team? I am ready to provide a detailed research proposal and verify my official university credentials .....@s.mfua.ru) via DM or email.

Thank you in advance for your time, consideration, and support of academic research!

Best regards,
Stanislav Amirov PhD Student, MFUA
