Where is the download button?

Does anyone see the download button to download the files of our app? The new update seems to have removed it, unless I am missing something.

Edit: I wanted to mention how much faster the view changes screen appears (the initial load can still be laggy, however) and when viewing the code in the side by side comparison screen and in the Code section (the button to the right of Preview). It’s much faster! The lag in the previous version of AI Studio was driving me nuts when I wanted to view the code changes it made. So good job to that, Google.

You just need to click on “Code” for the download button to appear.

Ah! Thank you so much! I was worried for a second that they removed it.

I wonder why they moved it to there, though? It’s a little inconvenient because now we have to go through one more step just to download the app, whereas before the update it was just at the top-right.

I completely agree. Honestly, it feels like the people making these UX choices don’t actually use AI Studio for real, day-to-day work. Hiding the download button is annoying enough, but the context management is what really gets me.

Removing the “Reset Chat” button makes absolutely no sense. Before, we could just clear the context so the AI wouldn’t get confused by old requests. Now, I have to “Remix” my app for every single new chat! I literally have over 50 versions of the exact same app cluttering my workspace just because they removed a simple clear button.

I really hope the dev team is reading these forums and rolls back some of these changes.

Oh, the remix feature replaced the reset chat button? Yeah, that’s silly. Again, another click-step just to accomplish a simple thing that worked perfectly fine before, so they definitely need to add back that button in.

Also, where does the app auto-save to now instead of Google drive? I don’t get it.

Yeah, I really don’t get why they dropped the Google Drive sync either. It makes no sense. And speaking of saving, they desperately need to do something about the snapshot feature. We should be able to actually manage those properly—rename them, organize them, maybe something closer to a lightweight Git repo structure.

It all just points back to them completely missing the perspective of someone who uses this tool every day. It’s such a shame because the core product is genuinely good, but these clumsy product vision choices are seriously making me consider jumping ship to Claude Code…

I’d say just give it time, there’s even the notice message at the top of Ai Studio saying they are still working on things.

The devs definitely do a good job at listening to us and making good changes, so I’m not too worried.

wow thank you so much.
I was scared as hell lol
