am requesting a clear explanation and a technical review of my Google AI Studio project.
I have a paid Google AI Studio project with a prepaid balance of $10. I linked a paid API key and selected Veo 3.1 Lite in Video Playground. The interface explicitly presents Veo 3.1 Lite as an available video-generation model.
However, when I actually try to generate a video, I receive:
“Failed to generate video: Permission denied. Please try again.”
No video is generated and no charge is made.
What is particularly concerning is what I see on the AI Studio Rate Limits page. I specifically went to the Rate Limits section for my project to verify whether Veo access was available. The page shows Veo generation rate-limit entries, but this does not translate into actual permission to use the model. In practice, I am still denied access to Veo 3.1 Lite.
This is very confusing and, frankly, unacceptable for a paid service.
The system gives the impression that Veo is available, directs the user to set up billing and link a paid API key, accepts a prepaid payment, and then denies permission when the user actually tries to use the advertised video-generation capability.
I therefore ask Google to clarify:
- Does my project actually have access to Veo 3.1 Lite?
- Why does Video Playground allow me to select Veo 3.1 Lite if my project is not permitted to generate videos with it?
- Why does the Rate Limits page show Veo generation limits while the actual generation request returns “Permission denied”?
- Is this an account/project provisioning problem or an error on Google’s side?
- Can Google correct the access or entitlement for my project remotely?
I have already completed the billing setup, added prepaid funds, and linked a paid API key. I do not want to create another Google account, make another payment, or repeat the same setup process simply because the current paid project has not been correctly provisioned.
Please investigate the project on Google’s side and either enable the advertised Veo 3.1 Lite access or clearly explain why it is unavailable to this paid project.
I would appreciate a concrete technical answer rather than general instructions to repeat the same setup steps.
Thank you.
