I am a user of the free API tier. I only recently started using AI Studio and, while my usage is frequent, I am certain I have not exceeded the specified limits. This error suddenly appeared last night. I thought it would resolve itself by today, but the error persists when I try to use it."

A 429 “quota exceeded” message in AI Studio usually means you’ve hit either the requests-per-minute or daily tokens cap for your tier, even if overall usage feels low. Free tier quotas for Gemini models are smaller and can be reached quickly with frequent calls or larger prompts. Check your quota in Google Cloud Console under IAM & Admin > Quotas, filter by the Vertex AI API, and look for the requests_per_minute and tokens_per_day metrics. If you need uninterrupted access, you’ll need to move to a paid plan or wait for the quota window to reset, which can take up to 24 hours depending on the limit.
