Hello Gemini API Team,
I am writing this to report a critical issue and request assistance regarding my recent Gemini API billing. Google Cloud Billing Support (Case: 71759080) directed me to report this bug here.
Issue Description:
I was using the “Google AI Studio Build” (the agent-based app builder) to create a web application. The AI agent automatically generated the application code. However, the code generated by the AI agent contained a logic flaw—specifically, an infinite loop logic around the Gemini API call using the @google/genai SDK. The while statement failed to meet its break condition during the script generation loop.
Because I ran the code exactly as it was generated and provided by the Google AI Studio Build agent, this infinite loop caused an uncontrolled number of unexpected API calls in a short amount of time before I could stop it. This resulted in a very high, unexpected billing amount on my account.
Details:
-
Date of Incident: Early June 2026 (Around June 9)
-
Cause: Google AI Studio Build Agent produced a faulty loop that continuously called the API without a proper circuit breaker when errors/retries occurred.
-
Support Case: Google Cloud Support Case 71759080 (Cloud Support stated they cannot handle this billing dispute directly and requested I escalate it to this forum).
I am requesting a review of my account usage and a waiver/refund for these specific runaway charges, as the usage was entirely unintended and directly caused by a code generation bug in Google’s official AI Studio Build tool.
Since my Support Case number is provided, your team should be able to review the exact billing amounts and API logs associated with my account.
Could someone from the Google AI team please direct me on how to get this billing adjusted?
Thank you.
