Hello! I know there are multiple posts that address the same issue, but I’m having difficulty upgrading my Google AI Studio project from Tier 2 to Tier 3 despite meeting the requirements for the upgrade. My project is over 90 days old and I’ve spent over $1.5k on my project. I would greatly appreciate any asssistance anyone can provide in this manner – the upgrade to tier 3 would greatly accelerate my current workflow.
Is anyone able to provide assistance in my rate limit increase?
The most relevant error message to my situation would be this message:
You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details. For more information on this error, head to: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/rate-limits. To monitor your current usage, head to: https://ai.dev/usage?tab=rate-limit.
* Quota exceeded for metric: generativelanguage.googleapis.com/generate_content_paid_tier_2_input_token_count, limit: 3000000, model: gemini-3-flash
However, the true error I’m encountering is being unable to upgrade from Tier 2 to Tier 3. Here’s an image of my projects in AI Studio (with the project numbers censored). While there’s an upgrade option for my Tier 1 project, there is no upgrade option for my Tier 2 project.
Thank you for reaching out. I recommend reach out directly with Google Cloud Billing support team for assistance regarding your Gemini API usage and tier upgrade. They will be able to review your account details and clarify your problems related billing.
Thank you for letting me know. I’ve previously seen other threads on this topic mention that billing support is unhelpful, but I was able to find a link to a Project Quota Increase that I filled out. I’ll update the thread with the result of filling out this form.
I would greatly appreciate any further assistance on bringing up my rate limit to Tier 3, the amount that is advertised on the AI Studio rate limits page!
I believe the Billing team is not the correct POC for this request. Thus far I have been directed to four separate resources to resolve this error: billing support, this forum, a Google Form, and the Request Project Quota Increase form, none of which were able to assist me. @chunduriv and @Shivam_Singh2 is there any way to resolve this error, or potentially escalate it to a higher level? I think this is quite a common issue that people are encountering.
Hi @Shivam_Singh2 , I messaged you my project number a few days ago. Please let me know if I can do anything else to assist to speed up the resolution of this issue.
I’ve received your project number and shared it with the appropriate team. At this time, no further information is needed. I will reach out to you if anything else is required.
