Trying to generate TTS

I was chatting with Gemni to understand the capability, especially on the TTS, and here is what I’ve got.

No, Gemini can’t generate TTS. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

A few things to keep in mind when it comes to Gemini:

  • Gemini is a Large Language Model, and all LLMs tend to hallucinate. Particularly about themselves (since their training material isn’t about themselves).
  • The Gemini chatbot (which it looks like you were using) is different than the Gemini API and both are different from the underlying Gemini model.
    • You need to be clear which one you’re talking about.
    • Even if the model is capable of something - the other ways to access it may not expose that.

That said - if you had clicked on the speaker icon to the left of each line, it would have generated audio of its reply.
