For a bit more context, I plan on building an application that helps provide tailored educational service for students; specifically in underdeveloped or war torn places. However, education is an unbelievable huge field and there’s no way that I could create an app that can take a kid from preschool to university in a couple months! I do believe I can narrow the focus to show the viability of an app like this, though.
For example, if I made an app that focused on English, math, and biology for students in the 10th grade, would this be accepted? Especially if I can show how my app could be scaled to encompass any age, grade level, and language?
Welcome to the forums!
You are allowed to set the scope of what you’re demonstrating in your 3 minute video.
What is “accepted” is, of course, variable. Your mission will be to demonstrate how Gemini does this better/easier/faster/whateverer.

According to the official rules, the primary requirement is that you must create a new and innovative product or service that integrates a publicly available Gemini model via the Gemini API. There is no explicit requirement for the product to be fully finished or comprehensive. A working prototype that demonstrates the viability and scalability of your concept is acceptable, as long as it meets the other submission requirements.
The official rules state that the submission must include:
- An entry form.
- A video demonstration of the application integrating a publicly available Gemini model via the Gemini API.
- The code for the application.
The video should be between 30 seconds and 3 minutes in length, showcasing the functionality and potential of your application.
Therefore, an app that focuses on specific subjects like English, math, and biology for 10th-grade students and demonstrates how it can be scaled to other subjects and grade levels would be considered acceptable. The key is to clearly show the innovative use of the Gemini API and the potential for scalability in your demonstration.
For your specific case:
- Ensure the application integrates a publicly available Gemini model via the Gemini API.
- Submit a video (30 seconds to 3 minutes) that effectively demonstrates your app’s current capabilities and its potential for expansion.
- Include the code for your application in your submission.
You can find the official rules of the Gemini API Developer Competition on the competition website for more detailed information.
Relevant sections:
- Section 5. HOW TO ENTER: Submission requirements
- Section 5.1.3: Video demonstration
By adhering to these guidelines, your submission should meet the competition’s requirements.
