We are developing an optional Scripture question-and-answer feature for BibleReach (biblereach .com), a Bible reading and study website operated from Nigeria. The Gemini feature is currently inactive, and we want to clarify the applicable terms before enabling it.
The website’s non-AI Bible reading and member features are available to a general audience, including under-18s. The proposed AI feature would require Google sign-in and a separate declaration that the reader is 18 or older. The server would block unknown and under-18 eligibility statuses. This is self-declaration, not independent age verification.
For the unpaid Gemini Developer API, we have also implemented a required good-faith declaration of the reader’s current physical country or territory. The server checks an allowlist against your available-regions documentation and excludes the UK, EEA and Switzerland. Unknown or ineligible declarations are blocked. We do not request GPS or independently verify location. An account-bound confirmation expires after 30 minutes.
Before entering an AI question, readers would actively accept a notice explaining unpaid-service product/AI improvement and possible human review, and would be instructed not to enter personal, sensitive or confidential information. Saved private notes and account identity would not be sent to the model automatically.
Could the Google team responsible for interpreting the Gemini API terms clarify:
- Does restricting the AI feature to self-declared adults satisfy the Age Requirements clause when the wider Bible website remains available to under-18s, or must the entire API client be adult-only?
- Are good-faith current-country declarations sufficient for the unpaid-service regional restriction, or is independent location verification required?
- Does this organisation-operated feature fit the professional/business developer use permitted by the current Use Restrictions?
- If this forum cannot provide authoritative clarification, which official team or private support route should we contact? Please distinguish official guidance from community suggestions.
We will keep the Gemini feature inactive while these questions remain unresolved. Thank you.
